Do I need to bring anything?
Towels, earplugs, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and everything else you need for after the float is provided. We recommend that you float in the nude, bathers optional. Remember you are in complete privacy – much like having a bath in your own home!
What if I am claustrophobic?
Float Lab rooms are uniquely designed to allow our clients the option of floating with the lid open. You are always in control of your environment. Our staff will explain all aspects of the float on your arrival at Float Lab.
Can I drown if I fall asleep?
No, it is impossible to sink. In fact, one hour of floating is equivalent to 4 hours of deep sleep. The buoyancy of the water will keep you floating. There is no risk or problem with allowing yourself to drift away. The worst thing that can happen, is you might wake yourself up snoring!
How is hygiene maintained?
The Epsom salt solution is filtered 4 times between floats via a network of filters and sanitised via a UV light process, providing a sterile solution that is maintained according to WA Health Department regulations.
Can I float while pregnant?
Floating while pregnant can help by taking the strain off the body and spine and promotes excellent sleep, a lovely sense of well-being and can alleviate all the pains and aches normally associated with pregnancy. To ensure floating is suitable for you during your stage of pregnancy, it is advised to talk to your doctor before booking.
Can I float after colouring my hair?
Please wait a week after you dye your hair before floating to make sure that any extra colour has had the chance to rinse out.The float tank solution won’t cause any more harm to your hair than your usual shampoo and conditioner. In fact Epsom salt can increase the health and volume of your hair.
I'm menstruating, can I still float?
No problem, please use the same method you would if you were to go for a swim at your local swimming pool!
Will I get cold and wrinkled?
No. You can float for hours and never get cold or prune. The Epsom salt or magnesium sulfate acts as a regulator for water and inhibits the water from saturating in the skin. Epsom salts do not have the same drying effects on the skin as the salt we cook with. Although the salts do remove oils from the surface layer of the skin, it draws oils from the layers beneath which creates baby-soft skin.
How many times do I need to float to see results?
Many first time floaters experience the true benefits of floating after their first float but really notice the feeling and difference floating can make after 2-3 session.
